If you have been having unrest with your BlackBerry Curve, you can take it back to the store where you bought it and pay a fee to have it serviced, or you can be taught how to diagnose and repair some common minor issues on your own. You won't be able to fix everything that goes wrong with your BlackBerry Curve without some expert help, but there are several known problems that aren't hard to remedy.

Bluetooth Locked

When trying to switch to Bluetooth voice dialing, the BlackBerry may lock up and remain stuck on the "Initializing" screen. If the Curve has been initializing for more than a couple of minutes, you can be sure that it isn't going to properly initialize. To correct this problem, remove the battery from your Curve for 10 seconds and replace. Try to switch to Bluetooth again. Your phone should have no trouble initializing the feature.

ClearCorrupted Data

If something has gotten corrupted within any of your BlackBerry Curve apps, such as the Calendar or Address Book, you will need to delete the data within. To clear all data from an application at one time, go to the "Desktop Manager" and select "Backup and Restore." Click on "Advanced." Choose the application that contains the corrupted files and click the "Clear" button to erase everything in the application.

Unlock the Curve

If you are trying to change providers and find that your BlackBerry Curve won't work, that is because your Curve must first be unlocked. In order to unlock the phone, you must have a code. The code to unlock your phone must come from the original provider and not your new service provider. If you have bought your BlackBerry Curve with T-Mobile, for instance, you will need to get the code from T-Mobile. When you call the customer service line that came with your BlackBerry Curve, you will be asked for the model of your phone as well as your IMEI number. The IMEI number can be retrieved from the Curve by typing in the code "*#06#," which will bring up the 15-digit number on your screen. With this number, the customer service rep will be able to find the code for your specific phone. This is only after your contract is over else you need to pay the early termination fee, but you may want to use it before that for which there are a lot of vendors providing unlocking services online.
