Finally Sony started producing netbooks, too. Sony is the last big notebook producer which started manufacturing netbooks. Of course Sony had small notebooks before, but they were more like ultra portable notebooks for businessman, those very expensive machines were nothing like a netbook except their size.

This time Sony plays the game by the book. Sony’s netbook system has 1.66GHz N280 processor and 1 GB DDR2 Ram. This new series is called as ‘Vaio W Series’. They come with Windows XP operation system. As expected from Sony, has differencies from other netbooks. Main difference is quality. The 10.1 inches screen has unexpected 1366 x 768 pixels resolution and LED back – lit system.

Higher resolution causes writings to seem smaller when compared to other netbooks, but it allows to fit a lot of things to the screen, which means you don’t have to scroll page too much. This advantage shows itself when displaying text files, calculation lists and web pages.

Using LED back – lit screens is an outstanding feature for a netbook, but nothing less is expected from Sony Vaio’s new W series. Sony shows off its experience in display systems by using this kind of screen in a netbook. You can find better screens in notebooks, but nothing like this within a netbook.

Keyboard is in a harmony with the rest of the notebook. Having different color from the lid gives this notebook an dynamic look. Even it needs time to adjust to the keyboard, it feels very comfortable. Touchpad is wide enough and sensitive.

Sony Vaio W notebooks use the fastest single cored Atom processor 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N280, which is a very good choice. This notebook is one of the fastest netbooks we have ever seen. Windows XP operation helps the system to work faster by not consuming too much work capacity, unlike Windows Vista. Daily use doesn’t cause overload, Sony Vaio W notebooks can handle it easily even when you play a HD video.

There are three color options: Cherry pink, Cacao brown and Sugar white. 3 celled battery provides three hours of freedom without being plugged, expected up to eight hours with 6 celled battery. For a netbook notebook Vaio W series has a lot of connection options. Two USB ports, Memory stick slot, VGA connection point, Draft-N wireless system which is fastest possible wireless connection system up to date and Bluetooth.
