Women are more prone to acne because of a number of things. For one thing, their hormones go haywire each month and this would sometimes cause an outbreak of acne for some women. Another thing is that they use a lot of artificial products on their skin on a daily basis. It's just something that can't be helped. Since time immemorial, women have been using make up to decorate their faces. And for some women, going out without makeup is like leaving the house naked. As a result, their pores get clogged more often than necessary and they become more prone to acne breakouts. That's why, when choosing which treatment to use for acne, it's important to find something that's natural instead of using the artificial ones.
Here are five of the best natural treatments for acne.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is one of nature's nicest antiseptics. This means that it can kill bacteria, and quite fast. And since acne develops partly due to the bacteria on the skin, tea tree oil would certainly help in that area. What's great about tea tree oil is that it has been proven to be effective. In fact, it beats one of the most common artificial treatments for acne, 5% benzoyl peroxide, because it's just as effective and has less or no side effects.
Citric Fruits
Citrus fruits are acidic, and are therefore quite effective in killing off the bacteria that causes acne. They also exfoliate the skin and remove the dead skin cells that usually clog the pores. Application differs for the various types of citric fruits. Remember one thing, though, these fruits can dry up the skin. Of course, you don't want that, so it would be best if you use a moisturizer every day in order to keep your skin healthy.
Honey
Honey, like the first two remedies, is also a potent antibacterial. It is applied to the face like a mask and left there for about 5 to 10 minutes before being washed off with cool water. You can use it once or twice a week, depending on the severity of your acne.
Vinegar
It's stinky, true, but you can't deny that vinegar really works well in treating acne. Vinegar is a strong antiseptic and can kill off the bacteria in your skin. However, it's quite strong, so be sure to dilute it in water first when you use it.
Water
Simple but effective - water is one of the best natural remedies for acne. Drinking enough water a day will rid your body of some toxic substances. The recommended amount is 7 to 8 glasses of water a day. Also, it won't just help you get rid of acne, it'll make you feel better and healthier too.
