Brushing our teeth properly is very important in our lives, it is highly recommended by the Dentist Association to brush our teeth atleast two times a day, but brushing our teeth requires things that would fit in the process. One is by using not just a toothbrush but a soft toothbrush, the flexible bristles of a soft toothbrush are gentler on the gums and make it very much easier to remove the plaque under the gum lines where periodental disease starts. Secondly, use a toothpaste that contains more flouride. Flouride is like a vitamin to our teeth that hardens the outer enamel layer of the teeth. It will stop cavities from existing and will give you more resistance to future cavities.

Here are some tips on how to brush your teeth properly:

  1. Angle the bristles of your toothbrush along the gum line at a 45-degree angle. Be firm but gentle in brushing so that the bristles slide under the gum lines.

  2. Move the brush over the entire surface of two-three teeth at a time in small, circular motions. Allow some overlap as you move to the next teeth. Use the tip of the toothbrush to brush the backs of the front teeth by tilting your toothbrush.

  3. It is fine to brush in any regular pattern you are comfortable with, but since the inner part of our teeth tend to get less attention, you might start with the insides of your upper teeth, then go to the insides of your lower teeth then switch to the outsides of the upper teeth before the outsides of the lower teeth. Brush the chewing surfaces of the upper teeth then the lower teeth as well. End by gently brushing your tongue and the roof of your mouth because this will help remove the germs and will lead you to a fresher breath.

These tips on how to brush our teeth properly is just based on my self-study and analysis about the topic. I’ve conducted research with the help of some cooperative individuals, giving them questions and some conclusion about the topic basing on their own experience and observation.

It is still advisable to consult a dentist that has a lot of knowledge about this topic so that we can be sure about what we are planning and trying to do with our teeth.
