The ipod touch is a portable media player, personal digital assistant, and Wi-Fi mobile platform designed and marketed by Apple. The iPod touch features Apple's revolutionary multi-touch user interface that enables you to find and enjoy all of your music, videos, and more on its gorgeous widescreen display with just the touch of a finger. Incredibly thin at just 8 millimeters with a screen size of 3.5 in. The iPod touch responds to your movements; turn it sideways and your video is presented in widescreen mode. Wirelessly view web pages just as they look on your computer, and features Google Search or Yahoo!

The iPod touch has a battery that lasts a little longer than the one on the iPhone. The iPod touch can play 36 hours of audio or six hours of video on a full charge. The new 32GB and 64GB iPod touch models feature Voice Control. So you can tell iPod touch to play songs from a specific playlist or artist. Watch movies, TV shows, photos, and listen to music. Like earlier iPods, the Touch is elegant and capable, and works smoothly with Apple’s free iTunes software for Windows and Macintosh PCs, as well as with its computer-based online iTunes Store, which sells far more downloaded songs and TV shows than any other legal outlet.

The Touch looks, at first glance, like an iPhone that can’t make phone calls. It’s a handsome, thin, black rectangle with a huge 3.5-inch screen — the same size and resolution as the iPhone’s gorgeous screen. But the Touch is even thinner, and a bit shorter. New iPod Touches can check email, view maps with directions, and jump to various Web applications using convenient icons on the home screen. The new features very well might tip the balance from an iPod which also happens to have a Web browser on board, into a real handheld Web device that also happens to be an iPod.

Navigation of the music, video, and photo menus is identical on the touch and the iPhone. Similarly, the players load and sync with iTunes in much the same way, including letting you manage your music song by song. You can scroll down lists of artists, albums, and playlists when in vertical mode, or turn the player horizontally to view the excellent Cover Flow feature. The video experience on the touch is nearly identical to the one on the iPhone, and the same can be said of viewing photos, with one difference. At full brightness the iPod touch looks a tad better, with deeper, darker color saturation. This is odd, because Apple claims they have the same 480-by-320-resolution screen with 163 pixels per inch.

iPod touch is a great pocket computer, letting users surf the web, do email, manage their calendars, organize contacts, and use social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. With its award-winning Safari web browser, iPod touch users can experience the Internet like no other pocket-size device. iPod touch is a great game player with its built-in accelerometer, revolutionary Multi-Touch user interface, its amazing graphics performance and the over 20,000 game and entertainment titles available on the App Store. With support for peer-to-peer connections, the new iPod touch gives users the ability to play multi-player games with people next to them or around the world. iPod touch customers can add new game titles from the App Store over Wi-Fi anytime and anywhere.

A class of 8 students at Shepparton High School in central Victoria are the first in Australia and among the first in the world to use iPod touches in the classroom for a global "mobile learning" project. Students can use the hand-held media players to search the internet, download music, do quizzes, research and submit assignments. Preliminary research on the program found students were more willing to come to school, did more homework and used their iPods more than laptops or desktop computers.
