Originally, FrameShots began as a very simple utility to capture still images from video files. However, the latest version, while still being easy to use, has plenty of useful features that not only make your capturing experience easier, but also more efficient. It also returns exceptionally high quality results.
The basic purpose of FrameShots is of course to capture image from video, although it also allows you to make various useful modifications to your captures. Allowing you to process multiple videos and even add watermarks and text to your captured images, it has plenty of uses.
Captured images can also be easily copied and transferred over to Photoshop or any other popular paint program from within FrameShots itself. This allows easy editing and modification of your results for whatever purpose you may need them for.
If, for example, you want to create an image slideshow preview for a particular video, you can configure FrameShots to automatically take image captures at specified time intervals. These frames can then be captured automatically without any further input from the user.
FrameShots also has accurate controls allowing you to capture the perfect frame, so you won't have to worry about settling for a blurry image. From within the program, you can also trim any black borders that may appear, such as in widescreen movies. You can also apply resampling filters to the various frames to optimize the quality of your results.
FrameShots natively supports a wide range of video formats; basically any movie file that can be played in Windows Media Player. This includes all the popular video formats such as DivX, Xvid, WMV, MPEG, AVI and more.
You may, however, be a little skeptical. Of course, theoretically, at least, you can use any screenshot program to take still images from your desktop, but there are a number of reasons why this is not practical for taking still pictures of movies.
With a conventional screen capture solution, you simply cannot navigate through the video accurately enough on a frame by frame basis. You can slow the video down, but this is not enough to get an accurate and high quality capture from a movie.
Also, any other capture utility will include the image of the application as well, meaning that you will have to go through the trouble of cropping and editing the image file to get the results that you are looking for.
Allowing you to move to a specific frame and organize your target screenshot correctly, FrameShots gives you great results with minimal hassle. You can start using the program right away without having to go through any steep learning curves.
FrameShots has minimal system requirements and will run comfortably on any version of Windows. A quick download and an easy program to install and start using, you can also download a free trial to get started with.
