San Diego is a popular beach holiday destination for all age groups. But apart from beaches there are lots of other activities to enjoy in San Diego that attract tourists from across the globe. In fact, you can enjoy a vacation in San Diego at any given time during the year since this enchanting city is always buzzing with colorful events and happenings. Thanks to its packed cultural calendar, San Diego has got itself new sobriquet of "newest cultural Mecca" in the United States.
Right from sun kissed beaches, year around pleasant weather, world-class museums, cultural events, thrilling night life to fine dining options, San Diego has got everything one needs for a vacation. During this time, you can enjoy pleasant climate, mild temperatures, wildflowers in the hillside, whale watches, several natural phenomena and plenty of festivals. This is the time when animal lovers can spend hours whale watching. Every year from December to April, around 20,000 gray whales migrate to breeding lagoons at the tip of Baja, Calif. In San Diego there are two popular outfitters, Hornblower and the San Diego Harbor Excursion, where three-and-a-half-hour whale watching boat tours are organized.
Those who love photography must visit the Anza Borrego Desert State Park, a two-hour drive from San Diego to click photographs of wildflowers. This is the largest desert state park in the USA where visitors can also enjoy hiking and riding.
In the month of February, how can one forget about the Chinese New Year which takes place annually in late January or early February. The main attractions during this celebration are the colorful food and craft vendors, as well as a lantern parade. Another major festival that takes place during this time is the annual Kuumba Festival, a celebration of Black History Month where visitors can enjoy a gospel concert, an African marketplace, creative workshops, and guest speakers and artists.
