Taking a morning or evening shower or enjoying a bracing wash after playing sports or other physical activities is very much taken for granted in this day and age.
Many bathrooms now contain a shower and often do not require the ubiquitous bath tub as the shower is becoming the preferred method of washing for many people. With showers ranging from power showers, massage showers and the increasing popularity of wetrooms, the choices nowadays are endless.
At Bathroom2U.com we have a range of shower accessories from shower doors to shower valves. We can ensure that the installation of any shower unit can enhance bathrooms or wetrooms and we can bring the latest in modern design aesthetics and technology to the home.
However, as bathroom features, the shower is a relatively new addition to the bathroom as it is known today.
Although the concept of the shower has been developed for centuries, for instance, it is believed the ancient civilisations are thought to have used a basic showering system of keep their bodies cleansed - it was really in the late twentieth century when the shower as it is known today became popular in the modern bathroom.
Some of the earliest recognisable showers were installed in bathrooms during the Victorian period when the knowledge and equipment regarding plumbing was becoming more developed. Although these were usually perfectly functional pieces of cleaning equipment, they were generally rather clunky with all pipe-work and other operational mechanisms on display. There was little thought in the design process and it was not considered necessary to think about hiding these pipes and shower valves.
By the 1970s and 1980s, shower technology had become increasingly sophisticated and the demand for these became enormous. They had become more compact, easier to install and were ideal for more modern homes where bathrooms were becoming increasingly smaller.
