Piles are also known as hemorrhoids and suffering from them is a very common occurrence yet is deemed as embarrassing and is often the subject of many jokes. If you are unlucky enough to be one of the millions of suffers of piles then you first need to assess the symptoms you are suffering to ensure a correct diagnosis. So what are the symptoms of piles?
Discomfort – This is usually the first symptom of piles that you will notice. The cause of this is your veins have doubled in size and then you have proceeded to sit on them, naturally your body will react by sending ‘pain’ messages to you brain that something is wrong. The amount of pain you experience could vary depending on the position you are either laying or sitting in but watch out for it as the earlier you diagnose your problem the easier it will be to cure
Itching – This is probably the most common symptom of piles. The itching is caused by the swollen hemorrhoids rubbing as you move also you will find the itching increases upon exposure to air. If you notice you have an increased urge to scratch you backside and one or more of the other symptoms then you are most likely suffering from piles
Bleeding – Quite often you will notice bleeding when using toilet tissue and in more extreme cases you will find signs of bleeding in your underwear. This bleeding is caused by the veins have become very swollen and protrude from the anus and when passing stools the resulting pressure causes slight bleeding. You will need to be aware that this is also a symptom of other illnesses but if the blood is fresh and you have some of the other symptoms then the likelihood is piles. If you are ever in doubt you should consult your doctor.
Constipation can be a cause of and a symptom of piles. If you are constipated then the effort of passing stools can cause piles. The swollen veins can also make it more difficult for you t go to the toilet so quite often it is a catch 22 situation.
So if you feel you are suffering from at least one of the above symptoms then the likelihood is you have piles and you need to act ass soon as possible to cure the problem before it becomes any worse. The longer you leave it the longer it will take!
