The Audiovox D1501 5.8 inch LCD screen portable DVD player is a small but affordable DVD player to have while on the go and since it is light weight and portable the D1501 features a 5.8-inch, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio and is compatible with DVD-Video, VCD/SVCD, audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-encoded discs. This means you have the ability to enjoy just about anything your heart desires while owning one of these cute and functional DVD players. You can take this baby with you anywhere you go and in any way you might prefer to travel, whether its backpacking it in the mountains, riding along in a bus, an airplane or even as entertainment for the children while on long drives. Since the D1501 is sturdy and dependable the kids will love being able to use it all by themselves as it seems to hold up very well with the goings on with children and their ware and tear on any item. If you're watching it yourself you'll have no problems being able to read any movie subtitles, because the picture quality is just that good on its the 5.8 inch screen. The built in speakers of the Audivox D1501 do feature very good quality loud sound although it does not come with surround sound it is able to decode for stereo playback DVD's that are Dolby digital and DTS surround sound encoded, so it really works out great with those options. It has two built in headphone jacks that can be used if you choose to buy and use headphones to share a movie or just on your own and the sound is richly awesome while using the headphones. Use of the headphones also preserves the batteries life span as well as not using the headphones drains the battery more quickly than not. The rechargeable NiMH battery pack takes about 5 hours to recharge and give a playback time of about 3 hours. The D1501 weights about 3 pounds with its battery, so this is one lightweight portable means of enjoying DVD entertainment with fantastic picture quality. The picture's ration adjustment can be tuned to widescreen or the normal regular size. The D1501 also features audio and video input and output which allows you to use the player with external video game consoles as well as with your home TV and with the adapter to use in your car you are able to use it anywhere you want and enjoy its 5.8 inch screen. However, some units have given some individuals trouble with the thin tab on the disc lid being a problem, but the problem is usually solved by making sure the lid is indeed closed. It also features a parental control with its code locking system so you have more control over just what your children are watching, which is a lifesaver for many parents. It would also be nice if they had included a volume control on its small remote control. Sometimes the Audiovox D1501 is hard to find as it is very popular and is often sold out, so if your in the mood for some great portable DVD entertainment, you better hurry on down and get your own, when you do find out that it is available.
