I'm sure many people can relate to the following: I'm surfing the web, minding my own business when all of a sudden the words "Click here for a free ps3" appear. For a split second my heart seems to have stopped, filled with excitement I take another look only to have my excitement quickly change to that of disappointment. "Just another ad" I say to myself.
To many people, these ads have the word "scam" written all over them. Surely anything promising a free ps3 has got to be a scam, right? Well, not entirely true. As a self-proclaimed "Freebie Expert" I've been able to get to the bottom of these programs and understand exactly how they work and why they work. In essence, you can indeed get a free ps3 but it is not without a bit of work.
The Free PS3
So you've come across an ad letting you know you've won a free ps3.
Just a bit curious, you click the ad and are brought to a page filled with multiple gifts, including the so-called free ps3. The website asks you to pick a free gift and enter your e-mail address. Once that is done they ask for your shipping information. Easy enough right? Your account has been created and you are excited to receive your free ps3 when all of a sudden you are hit with it "You must complete an offer and refer 10 other people to be eligible for your free gift."
At this point most people would close their web browser or go back to google to continue on their merry way forgetting the entire ordeal.
I did the same thing until I decided to delve deeper into the depths of this "scheme" as I liked to put it. I wanted a free ps3 after all and gosh darn et I was going to get one.
I found out that the company promising a free gift (We will call them Company X) made money off of you when you completed an offer. Apparently, every time you or your friends completed an offer for Company X, it made some cash via the offers you completed
How it works
Here is how it works in a simpler form.
-
You sign up for the web site and choose a free gift such as a free ps3.
-
You are asked to complete an offer and refer 10 friends.
-
You complete an offer - Company X gets paid
-
Your friends complete an offer - Company X gets paid
-
You have completed your requirements and Company X has been paid enough money that they now purchase your free ps3 (or whatever you chose) and they ship it out to you completely free!
So, one question remains. Are the offers free? No offer comes without conditions. There are many offers that are simply free trials of different products or services which you can cancel if you are not satisfied with them. So in essence, they are free.
If you are interested in getting into the Freebie scene then keep the following tips in mind.
-
Keep track of offers you complete and when you need to cancel them by to avoid being charged - That is assuming you do not want to keep the product or service you signed up for. (You can also never complete the same offer twice)
-
Never use fake information, or try to cheat the companies offering free gifts (They have many scripts to detect fraud)
-
Finally, get your friends and family involved and enjoy your free gifts!
To date, I've gotten two free xbox360, a free ps3, a couple ipods and a whole lot of cash (you can choose cash instead of a free gift).
I hope this article has give some insight to those who needed it.
I have a free tutorial site available at Free PS3 if you are interested in a more in depth step-by-step process for getting yourself a free ps3 for yourself.
Best regards,
Jim
