Finding Good Toronto House Painters

For a relatively small investment you can create a brand new mood and feeling in your home with interior and exterior painting. Enjoying a freshly painted home with new colors you've chosen yourself is a great feeling.

Once you have decided to hire a professional house painter to paint your home, there are several things you can do to ensure you make the right choice. You don't want to get taken advantage of.

Choosing your house painter carefully can make the difference between a a stressful, disappointing headache and an exciting, fun experience.

There are many highly skilled professional craftsmen in the house painting business, who take pride in their work and provide quality service.

There are also inexperienced students and laid off workers who think that all they need to be a painter is a couple of ladders, some brushes and rollers and a business card.

While the highest price will not necessarily guarantee the best quality work, the lowest price is a good indication of cheap quality paint and a hurried job.

Remember, "Buyer beware."

What you're looking for is the best value for your investment, not the cheapest price for the job. A poor quality paint job costs a great deal more in the long run.

STEPS TO FINDING A GOOD PAINTER

Start by asking friends, neighbors and the local paint supply store for recommendations of professional house painters and painting contractors.

Then put each recommended painter through the following "due diligence."

  1. Check to make sure that they are registered as a legitimate, licensed business or have a contractor's license.
  2. Ask for at least two references from satisfied clients.
  3. Ask how long they have been in business, and the number of years of experience of the actual painters.
  4. Get at least two bids for the job, preferably three, to make sure you're getting a fair price. Don't allow yourself to be pressured when getting your bids.
  5. For small jobs, most painters will give you a price over the phone.
  6. Get flat rate estimates so you know the total you will pay beforehand.
