The history of mattress can be traced back from the Neolithic era when mattress was made of a pile of leaves, grass, or possibly straw, with animal skins over it. Then around 200 BC in Ancient Rome mattresses were made with bags of cloth stuffed with reeds, hay, or wool. The memory foam was invented for NASA astronauts to provide astronauts greater support and protection on G-force heavy shuttle launches in 1970’s later on mattress industry started using it in mattress making whereupon it was welcomed with open arms due to its unparallel pros. In the beginning it was expensive but now it is available at reasonable price as many mattress companies started making it .The memory foam is also known as visco elastic urethane foam. Visco is a short from of viscosity which is a property of material to change shape whilst elasticity is the ability of material to return to an original size or shape after being deformed by stress.
