Ever heard it said, I couldn't even build a bird house. Or I couldn't even draw a stick figure.
Well from my experience I can assure you that anyone can learn to draw because I taught myself to be an artist. I can also assure you that anyone can learn to build things out of wood because I have a son and son-in-law who did just that.
If you have the desire you can do anything you set your mind to it. The first thing my son did was to build a head board and shelf arrangement for he and his wife. He drew up the plans imself with precise measurements, bought the red oak lumber and went to work. I was totally amazed since he never even took wood shop in high
school! The end result was beautiful.
My son-in-law was equally surprising in that he built an entertainment center around his 54 inch TV. This included storage shelves for surround sound, a DVD player and recorder and glass enclosed book shelves on both sides. He also drew up his own plans and used oak hardwood for construction. Just like my son, he never took wood shop either. He saved about $3000 by doing it himself and again the job is beautiful.
So I know for a fact that anybody can build a wooden storage shed by themselves. The important thing is to have a good set of plans to follow. Detailed woodworking plans and blueprints, a ready bill of materials and step by step instructions will allow anyone to become a handyman in just a couple of days since thats what it takes to build your shed. I have even heard it said that 2 men starting with measured and precut lumber can build a 10x12 shed in 33 minutes.
Woodworking can be fun and so satisfying that once you complete your first project, you will be hooked and a simple storage shed is a good place to start. You will also be amazed at how much money you will save doing it yourself. you will probably save more than half the cash you would spend for a ready built shed and a lot more than the price of professional contractor.
So give it a try, you will be amazed at what you can do if you have the desire and set your mind to it.
Do your research, read all you can about the project and start with a good set of plans and practice those safety rules.
