The recent Isuzu Rodeo is a very stylish sport utility vehicle which is equipped with almost all necessary vehicle upgrades. Isuzu very well understood what a 2008 driver of a SUV wants when he is on a long drive with his family or friends. But the lesser options of power and engine became an obstacle on its way to become more adorable. Overall the SUV is rated a good vehicle to own but still there remains some portions especially in the engine category when there is stiff competition in the market and there are SUVS from brands like Ford, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Hyundai and others.
If we give a quick glimpse to the features of Isuzu Rodeo then we find the SUV having some great looks, comfortable interiors, better wheel base and much more. It would no doubt appeal to you if you are an ardent lover of SUV, but when you go through the specifications and run your eyes over the engine modules you feel little dejected. When it is considered a SUV it must give the options to choose power and performance according to your need.
Engine Options:
The Isuzu Rodeo has to offer you two engine options – a smaller 2.2 liter DOHC 16 valve 4 in line engine which has a modest 130 horse power, 144 pound-feet of torque (16 valves 130 hp @ 5200 rpm, 144 ft-lbs. @ 4000 rpm). This engine promises you a 19 mpg in city roads and amazing 23 mpg on highways. You have an option of 5-speed manual as well as 4-speed automatic transmission. You do have the option of 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive.
The other engine is a 3.2 liter DOHC 24-valve V-6 engine which puts on 205 horsepower, 214 lb-ft torque is quite powerful compared to the other one. You have options of 5-speed manual as well as 4-speed automatic transmission. Besides that you also can choose between 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive.
The acceleration of the five speed manual 2.2 liter engine is sufficient to reach the mark of 60 miles per hour in just 8.2 seconds. On the other hand 3.2 liter V6 five speeds manual can reach the same point in just 6.8 seconds
Mid Segment SUV:
The engine specifications and performance level of this mid segment SUV is quite good for those who want a SUV in limited budget and don’t want to a Toyota 4Runner or Nissan model. If you wish a simple family SUV the 2.2 liter S trim would be an ideal choice. But if you die for speed and throttle check out the 3.2 Liter V6 engine Rodeo.
