Though RC pilots may seem to effortlessly fly RC helicopters, a beginner may still become frustrated during his first attempt. You can learn how to fly your RC with the help of a simulator but if you don’t want to go to great lengths of buying one, then you simply have to practice basic controls of the RC first.

Never make it a habit of watching your RC helicopter fly to the ground. As much as possible, try to recover the flight and fight it to the end. You can imagine that you have several thousands of dollars riding on your RC to motivate you in keeping it aloft. Another thing that you should prevent from happening is being hit by the RC. It can happen if you are not careful with the controls and surely nobody would want to be laughed at when hit by an RC that he is controlling himself.

When flying your RC, you should learn to control it in a way that it doesn’t fly too far. It may be quite challenging to keep it close by but you have to work on the controls in order to achieve this. The same thing is true for landing it. You have to practice how make it land on the exact spot that you want it to. You can also work on how to make it land pointing toward the direction that you desire.

While trying to master the controls, you can try to move the sticks wildly around until you see the RC helicopter in a shaky and unstable position. Then, try to bring back a balanced and steady flight as quickly as you can. From there, you can practice flying back and forth, left to right, in or out without having the RC hit or fly over you.

Take note that wind gusts will make your RC climb faster because it can enhance the effectiveness of the rotor blades. Learn to control your reactions as well because you might end up slamming your RC to the ground. Simply try to bring it lower until it descends slowly to the ground. When the wind has come to a stop, prepare to launch the RC back to the air and let it fly away normally.

If you want to adjust the power of the RC helicopter, you can also adjust the gyro as required in order to stop the tail from swaying or wagging. You also have to practice hovering and holding it steady at a height of 3 feet since this level is prone to wind effects. You can get yourself familiar with how the RC responds to the wind so that you can practice correcting the movement with just a few slight taps. Avoid moving the stick down all the way through because it will cause your RC helicopter to slam into the ground. Whenever the RC gets in trouble, simply lower the stick ¼ way down or a little bit more. You can also keep the speed down and practice making very slow circles with you RC.
