Stroll along a wide stretch of white sand, water lapping gently at your feet, and a warm ocean breeze carrying the scent of bougainvillea. If you think this is just another Caribbean cruise, you're in for a surprise. This idyllic vacation spot is just south of Naples, one of the ports of call in the European itinerary of Carnival's newest ship, Magic.
A Mediterranean Dream
There's more to see on a cruise through the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean than sand and palm trees, though. You'll start your voyage in Barcelona, a vibrant metropolis of nearly 5 million people, with a colorful history that can be traced back more than 2,000 years. From there, you'll sail to Monaco, the favorite getaway spot for wealthy socialites. In Italy, Carnival passengers will see some of the most famous European landmarks. Visit the Colosseum and see where the citizens of Rome were entertained by gladiators in staged battle scenes; head to Vatican City for a tour of St Peter's Basilica; and don't miss the chance to visit Pompeii, lost for 1,500 years after the catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.
Beyond Italy you'll find one of the gems of European cruising: Croatia. This gorgeous country offers something for everyone, with its rich history, temperate climate, and magnificent coastline. The view from outside the walled city of Dubrovnik brings to mind tales of knights and dragons, while inside you'll enjoy fine dining, world-class museums, and unforgettable cultural festivals sure to please everyone in your party.
Getting there is More than Half the Fun
Magic is the newest ship in Carnival's fleet, and from the moment you step into the atrium, it's clear she's something special. On board you'll find Carnival's famous kid-centered activities with fun for everyone from toddler to teen. For the grown-ups, nearly 12,000 square feet of adults-only space offers plenty of room to unwind. Later, you can all head to the top deck for a soak in the pool, a laughter-filled afternoon at WaterWorks, or a round of miniature golf at a course with the best view on earth.
Food lovers will enjoy a never ending selection of gourmet delights aboard Magic, including 24-hour room service for those who want a little "me" time. For sophisticated choices including fine wines, reserve a table in the main dining room, but if your tastes run to the more casual, pop into the Lido Buffet for a burger and fries or a hot-from-the-oven pizza. There's even an authentic Italian eatery serving your favorite dishes in a family-style atmosphere.
Once dinner is over and the sun goes down, night owls will find plenty to do aboard Magic. Dance the night away in a rocking club, practice your poker face with the high-rollers in the casino, or simply gaze at the stars from a comfy poolside lounge. Award-winning shows top the bill at Magic's main theater, but for those with a bit of show business in their blood, Superstar Live Karaoke is a dream come true. Take the stage with a live band for an experience you'll never forget.
Magic sets sail in May 2011 and features all the amenities you expect from Carnival. Spacious staterooms to fit every family and budget, world-class entertainment, and a variety of fine restaurants make Carnival a favorite for family cruising. Every minute on Carnival Magic is filled with laughter and excitement, from the moment you board until the final port of call, making your cruise a delightful vacation both on board and off.
