Towns to visit on your Devon caravan holiday

Devon, the large county in south western England, is one of the most popular destinations for visitors all across England. There is so much to do in Devon – it is home to England’s only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has many seaside resorts, historic towns and cities, rural scenery and tons of attractions for all members of the family.
Caravan holidays in Devon are one of the best ways to explore the area, and are extremely popular. Visitors can go about their own itinerary, can have an affordable holiday and can settle down for the night in some of the most beautiful spots in the area. As there are so many new sites and attractions available throughout Devon, caravan holidays are favourable as you can always stay in a different place year after year.
There are many towns in Devon to visit on your caravan holiday.
Exeter – This is the ceremonial county town of Devon and has many notable religious buildings such as the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and St Mary Steps.
Plymouth – The city of Plymouth is one of the two unitary authority areas in Devon, and is situated on the coast between the mouths of the rivers Plym and Tamar. The National Marine Aquarium, England’s biggest aquarium is located here, and houses over 400 species of underwater creatures.
Torbay – This city is the other unitary authority area in Devon – it is an east facing bay and natural harbour, roughly situated between the cities of Exeter and Plymouth. It is famous for its beaches, seaside resorts and mild climate and is called the ‘English Riviera’.
Totnes – Totnes is a small market town and civil parish situated at the head of the estuary of the River Dart. It is well known for art, music, theatre and natural health and is known as a place where one can live a ‘bohemian’ lifestyle.
Dartmouth – This is a popular tourist destination set on the banks of the estuary of the River Dart, known as a deep water port for sailing vessels. Dartmouth lies within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has many attractions such as Dartmouth Castle and Kingswear Castle, which protect the narrow mouth of the Dart as well as the many other historic buildings around the town.
Torquay – Located near Torbay, this fishing and agricultural town is known as the place that Agatha Christie, the famous novelist, lived most of her life. Her life story can be discovered at every corner in Torquay.
