You don’t want to be the giver of the worst Christmas gifts this year.
While Christmas isn't just about the gifts, if you plan on giving a gift, it's nice to give something that will be appreciated and enjoyed. Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of the season, it's easy to get in a hurry and choose gifts quickly, which can end up in disaster if you aren't careful. After all, everyone has had the experience of opening a gift that was useless, boring, a repeat of last year, or simple ridiculous. Don't be the one making these gift mistakes this year. Here is a look at some of the worst Christmas gifts you could give, or get, so make sure you avoid them.
Useless Gifts
One of the worst gifts you could give this holiday season is a gift that is totally useless to the person you purchase it for this year. It happens all the time. You have to buy a gift for someone you don't know well or someone who seems to have everything and you have no idea what to purchase as a gift. In many cases, you end up grabbing a gift that is only one step above junk - something they'll never use. Even if it's cute, funny, or just something you know they don't have, don't purchase a gift that will be useless to the person on your list.
Strange or Boring Gifts
Strange or boring gifts are just as bad as the useless gifts when you are picking out a gift for everyone on your Christmas list. Under no circumstances should you ever purchase underwear for someone you don't know extremely well. This is not only uncomfortable, but a bit on the strange side. Of course, it's funny to joke about a lump of coal, but actually giving it is a bit odd and tacky. This category includes many gag gifts as well. Most of them really aren't that funny, so save yourself the money and bypass strange or boring gifts when you are doing your Christmas shopping this year.
Repeat Gifts
There is nothing like getting the very same gift you received from that person last year. Repeat gifts show that you didn't spend a lot of time and thought on the gift. When buying your gifts this year, keep track of what you gave those on your list last year. This way they won't have to plaster on a fake smile when they open the gift and realize you gave them a tacky Christmas sweater once again.
More Bad Gift Ideas
Of course, there are countless other bad gift ideas that you'll want to avoid this Christmas season. Avoid foods full of sugar for people who are diabetics. Don't buy personal care items like mascara, fingernail clippers, and definitely avoid nose hair clippers. You'll want to forget about gifts like vacuum cleaners for the gals on your list. No woman gets excited over a vacuum that means she'll be doing more housework. Think twice before giving gifts like gym memberships and anything else that may be construed as a hint to lose weight.
