Time management for college students is one of the most critical determinations of success while in school, especially when you’re trying to make money at the same time. The problem occurs when making money becomes more of a priority then getting your college coarse work done. If you want to be successful in school while making money in college, you have to be get your priorities straight and manage your time better. Today I will go over some time management tips specifically designed for college students.
- Know Thy Self
What time of day do you work the best? Are you a morning person or do you work best in the evening? Spend some time with your self to discover what time of day you have the most energy. This step is very important because it will help you determine which classes to register for.
- Early Bird Still Gets The Worm
Now that you know the time of day you work the best, be the very first student to register for classes. Doing this will give you more opportunities to have the best possible schedule. The later you wait, classes will begin to fill and you will be sitting there with the left over’s. Trust me, you don’t want an 8am class and a 6pm class on the same day. Stay on top of this and register for classes early.
3.Time Management Tools
To be successful in school and make money in college, you have to use tools that will keep track of your schedule and keep you organized. If your more comfortable using a day planner then buy one today. If you’re more comfortable using electronics, then open your computer and begin to schedule out your daily routine. These tools are essential and should not be overlooked.
- Set Goals & Deadline
Write down all of your goals and attach a deadline to each one. You can set daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. Setting daily goals allows you to see if you accomplishing your goals by end of the day. Whatever works best for your work flow will have to be determined by setting each category of goals, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. Always set goals and never forget the deadline.
- Start Now, Right Now!
Don’t waste time waiting, just jump out there and start working on something toward your goal today. The longer you wait the more time it will take for you to get to where you’re trying to go. Be a go getting and start now, right now before someone takes your idea.
- Where do you waste time?
Are you spending too much time on social networks like Facebook and Twitter? Or are you always on Xbox, Playstation, and lets me not forget about Wii? If you want to get good grades and make money in college at the same time, then you must reduce the time you’re wasting doing non-productive things. Find out where you’re wasting time and reduce your consumption and you will be on your way to making money while in school.
- Important Task First
Work on the most important or the most unpleasant task first during the time you perform the best. Getting this obstacle out of the way will feel like a great accomplishment and will allow you move on to more pleasurable tasks. If you wait to the last minute your work will show and you will not be pleased by the results.
When it comes to begin successful in school and making money in college, there will be times when you have to delegate or outsource work to others. Group projects are great in school because it will give you the opportunity to practice some delegating techniques with your peers. If its more effective, get someone else to take care of the work for you.
