When you’re new to anything you don’t want to hear a bunch of complicated stuff that intimidates you. What you do want is something really simple and something you can easily follow and do to get some result to raise your confidence level.
So here is a quick and simple Protoss strategy called the 4 Warpgate strategy for you. Now, if you’re not a Protoss player then reading this guide would probably do very little for you. But I do have varies of different strategies guides for every race you can check out on my blog. Just use the link below the article to check it out.
Anyway, enough for my shameless self-promotion let’s get in to what this guide is really about. The 4 Warpgate rush strategy, although I don’t personally consider it to be a rush strategy as getting 4 Warpgate takes a good amount of time. Focuses on constantly producing infantry and using a Proxy pylon to keep the pressure on your opponent until you wipe them out.
So because of the constant production of infantry such as Zealots, Stalkers, and sometimes Sentries, your economy and defenses will be greatly hinder.
Generally speaking this 4 Wargate strategy is usually only effective in 1v1 and 2v2 games. Because as you get in to 3v3 and 4v4 game you will most likely get wipe out by your opponent’s team mates while you have your whole army attacking his base. Or your attack failed because he was got protection from his teammates, and now you have wasted your time and resources.
Build Order
-
Pylon at 9 Supply (Probe)
-
Gateway at 12 Supply
-
@100% Gateway build Zealot if playing against Zerg to prevent early Zergling rush
-
Assimilator at 14 Supply for Gas
-
Pylon at 16 Supply
-
Cybernetics Core at 18 Supply
-
@50Gas Research Wargate
-
Make 3 more Gateway as resources allow and Pylon so you don’t get Supply Block
-
@4 Wargate build a Proxy Pylon near your opponent’s base (Proxy means a structure build outside your base usually near your opponent’s base to increase the speed of getting forces into his/her base)
Anyway there is the build order for the 4 Wargate strategies. In general this strategy is pretty safe but I would advise that you use your Gateways, Pylon or even Cybernetics Core to narrow the entrance of your base in case of early Zergling rushes.
Lastly should your first attack fail with these 4 Wargate strategies there are couple of different options you can take, and it depends on how you macro skills are. For different types of strategy you can use after check out my blog [ http://www.yourstarcraft2guide.com](http://www.yourstarcraft2guide.com) for other StarCraft 2 Guide.
