The fantastic thing about your home is it's not judged only by its size. What would you rather have, a mansion size home that appears like a hurricane just passed through it or maybe a modest-sized home with everything beautifully organized?
They say the home and everything about it speaks volumes about the ones who live there. If your property is starting to look as chaotic as a dump site, visitors will often have an unfavorable impression of you. However, if you keep an immaculately uncluttered home, your visitors will more than likely look at you in a very positive way. Keeping that in your mind, here are a few tips that will help you declutter your home.
The first thing you need to do is think about what area of the house to clean up first. Most people will start in the kitchen since that is the room with the most traffic. The actual ‘disaster areas’ of a home will vary significantly from home to home . Decide what room or rooms is the messiest and concentrate on there.
Create a plan of attack detailing the steps you'll need to take to clean up every room and estimate how much time you'll need to complete each job. Having a time frame to work around is important since it helps you keep track of how much time you spend on each task.
Keeping track of the time you spend will help keep you from feeling stressed with the amount of work you have to do. Stay focused on one task at a time, and check them off your list as you finish each job. This will help you experience a feeling of achievement that should inspire you to continue.
You should now start sorting through everything in the room you're working on. Sort by grouping everything into piles or even plastic containers. As an example, clothes go with clothes, shoes with shoes, mail with mail, etc. After sorting, begin the cleaning phase since this job will take up most of your time.
For the items that you continue to use and want to keep , leave them where they are. However for everything else such as clothes you don't want because they're out of style or they just don’t fit, set them aside.
When you're done cleaning and sorting you can have a garage sale. What does not sell you can give away to your friends or family, donate the items or simply toss into the trash. The particular method that you'll use to declutter your home can vary greatly from others. Some plans might take several weeks, however, most everything is generally completed within days.
After you get started you might seem overwhelmed by the size of the job and think you'll never reach your goal. Don't get discouraged if your not finished in one day. Decluttering your home is a big job, as long as you do a little at a time, you will get the desired results as long as you don't quit.
