In 1981, modern taximeter was invented by German Wilhelm Bruhn. It was a giant step in taxi services.
Earlier, chauffeurs were hired only by royal families. Of course, the invention of taximeters made a spontaneous change in cab services. It makes life easier as well as security of travelers. Cabs were effectively been used during the First World War.
Now a day, countries have their own rules and regulations when it comes to security and fares of cab services. Countries give importance to the security in concern. It is a struggle to pass the certifications of motor vehicles to be taxicabs, which takes much more time than a private car does. In addition, there are some other specifications to meet before the approval of a taxicab. These specifications again vary from country to country.
Taxi services typically provided by automobiles, human-powered vehicles and animal-powered vehicles. Human-powered and animal-powered vehicles were more popular during the earlier eras. Modern world prefer automobile vehicles to travel. Even though almost individual owns vehicles, still demand of taxi is increasing. There are varieties of cabs available to serve. It includes from normal to luxurious cabs to meet the comfort and joy. It also became a prestigious part of the economy for many countries. Wealth status of a country can understand by checking the taxicabs on the streets. Developed countries even use Mercedes-Benz like cars as cabs. Reasonable fare, highly qualified drivers and comfort makes travelers to opt taxi service as their first choice.
Travelers always depend on the taxi services when it comes to sight-seeing or locating a particular place in a new country. Chauffeurs even act as a travel guides and help them to understand the cultural of the country. It is a clear fact that a country’s status will estimated by a traveler not only in terms of quality of taxi services but also by the behavior of the cab driver.
When I visited Caribbean Islands for the first time, it was a nice experience for me. A well-experienced driver can only drive poorly maintained roads and power outages of the country. Still my driver helped me to roam around the country. It was an adventurous trip and all credit goes to my driver. Quality taxi services with reasonable fare is the primarily attracted factor in Caribbean Islands. Even I may say that, I was enough lucky to get such a driver who have drove me into the inner parts of Caribbean Islands. This is still attracting me to visit these islands again.
