If you are a student who is going abroad to pursue further education, international travel insurance is a basic necessity. It is very irresponsible to travel to any new place without any travel insurance. Different countries have different rates of medical facilities and there is a possibility that the country that you are visiting might be very expensive. Also, many times, medical insurance policies are not accepted or honored in countries abroad. As a result, if you fall sick or need to be hospitalized when you are abroad, medical expenses can cause you financial trouble. Student travel insurance is specially designed for the students going abroad because emergencies can arise anytime and anywhere. Therefore, a student insurance policy covers all these risks and provides timely and reliable assistance and support against any unforeseen incident or expenses.
To be eligible for student travel policy, the student needs to be between the age of 17 and 29 years. The students should be attending a state-accredited college or university to get this type of travel insurance. A student travel insurance plan provides one with a cover against loss of passport, interruption in study, bail bond, sponsor protection, medical expenses, dental expenses, personal accident, delay or loss of baggage and personal liability. Travel insurance offers coverage for predetermined cases that are not covered by any other general insurance or life insurance. The student travel insurance provides various benefits at a very reasonable cost. Exchange students, research scholars and even part time and full time students are entitled to get many types of discounts on travel insurance.
This type of insurance plan allows students to pay an installment every month for the insurance coverage. This amount is sufficient for most of the academic and governmental requirements. Also, a student travel insurance policy gives one additional benefits at a comparatively low premium. It can also pay for very expensive services such as flying a student to another country in case of a medical emergency. If a student is participating in extreme sports, such insurance plans can prove to be an advantage. In case of any serious injury, student travel insurance often pays for a guardian to come to the student. A student travel insurance plan also covers the cost of trip cancellation and also reimburses if one loses his/her baggage. It also covers the cost of staying in a stopover city if the flight connection is delayed by any chance.
