Are you looking to immediately STOP Collection Calls at home and you're tired of all the useless information online? If this is you, then I'm not going to beat around the bush and I'll get straight to the point.
Stopping Debt Collection Calls at home is one of the easiest things to do. There's a lot of information online that states all you have to do, is to verbally tell a debt collector to quit calling. This is false information; in order to reduce or eliminate calls to your house you actually have to put your request in writing.
Now you don't have to write a 10 page letter explaining how upset you are by a debt collector's harassment or anything like that. All you have to do is write a letter stating you want the calls to "Cease & Desist", which basically means you want the calls to stop. If you really want your letter to be effective and pack a punch, you could include some information from the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (aka FDCPA), which is basically a set of rules and regulations that third party debt collectors have to adhere to. I won't go into details about this, but the FDCPA helps protect your rights.
There are a lot of sample Cease & Desist letters that you can find online as well as information about the FDCPA, simply do a quick Google search and you're bound to find some great information.
WARNING! When creating a Cease & Desist letter to reduce collection calls, you only want to Cease & Desist "Telephone" communication only.
"Do Not" and I repeat "Do Not" Cease & Desist all communication. Your creditors and debt collectors need some way to contact you and if you cease all communication they may end up taking legal action against you, because they feel you are trying to avoid dealing with your debt.
You should send all correspondence and communication to any creditor/collection entity via certified mail. This way you will have a receipt that someone actually received your letter and signed for it.
Keep in mind, no one can guarantee that you will be able to stop all collection calls. Your credit card debt may be placed with another collection agency, which allows them to call you until you notify them to Cease & Desist calling you.
