If there is peeling off in the fascia part of the house, you'll need to paint this area first before installing the gutters.
There is a variety of gutters available in the market. You can choose gutters with or without seams. For gutter with joints they come in white and aluminum colors. Seamless gutters come in different colors matching with the color of the property and you can choose accordingly. These can be installed by you or by an expert.
Getting gutters installed by yourself obviously saves you that fees which you otherwise would pay to the professional gutter installation company. Once you start installing the gutters yourself, start it by drawing a line from top of the front wall to downward with the help of a mascon's line and drive nails on distances to show the straight line and front of the gutters.
Using the wood screws gutter brackets and their fittings should be placed to the front wall. The top of every bracket must be in line with the chalk line. Every bracket should be fixed on a 2 feet interval and then slide every section into its place. This will be engaged to the brackets and fittings. Every succeeding section should be fixed into the end of the previous one to join it with connectors. After capping the end of the gutter the water is sent through gutters to the downspout. Every downspout should have drop outlet at the bottom of each gutter. Fasten an elbow and a short length of downspout to have it run the wall and then add an elbow and longer sections in order to extend the run direct to the ground.
By two brackets screwed on the wall, anchor the downspout to the wall, one should be at the top of the downspout while the other above the foundation. Place an elbow to the bottom of the downspout then position a splash block underneath in order to prevent the water from eroding the soil.
The properties where the end of roof beams are exposed; the gutters can be nailed to the rafter. Place a chalk line on the end of the rafter and place the gutter brackets, these should make a straight line from the top to down.
Some metal gutters use spikes and ferrules instead of brackets. These can be fixed along side the sloping chalk line. Ferrules are to fit inside and across the gutter by attaching them and the spikes to drill into the fascia. Any removed paint should be retouched with rustoleum paint such as Red Devil. Additionally a gutter cover can be fixed on the gutter system.
