Garden furniture is a type of furniture specifically designed for outdoor use. It is usually made of weather resistant materials to withstand heavy rains, extreme coldness and frequent exposure to the sun.
Garden furniture can be purchased by set consisting of a garden table, four to six patio chairs and a parasol. Garden parasols are specialized type of outdoor umbrella designed to fit through a hole in the centre of the garden table and secured in a base. Long chairs, often called as chaise lounges, are also good furniture to mix with.
The materials used to manufacture modern patio furniture include stones, metals, vinyl, plastics, glass, and treated woods. Plastic or synthetic garden furniture is naturally waterproof, allow you to leave it out all year round. But do not allow rain water to collect at the back of chairs, because surprising amount of dirt can be formed.
A table and chairs is one of the most popular furniture sets placed on a patio or deck. If you do not want just a plane picnic table, consider purchasing one made of glass and/or metal with matching chairs. Adding an umbrella and cushions to the chairs can really dress up the area, and make it a comfortable place for you and your guests to relax and enjoy the sunset or simply spend a lazy afternoon.
Lounge chairs also provide another great way to relax. Once you have eaten a big meal, you can retire to the patio where you will be able to relax in comfort, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the great outdoors. Lounge chairs are also a great way to spend a long afternoon.
End tables are another great choice. They not only look great when placed strategically around the yard or patio, but also provide a place for guests to put drinks, insuring that their glasses or bottles will never have to rest on the ground. Place them by your lunge or lawn chairs for added convenience.
Wooden garden furniture can be damage through frequent exposure to sun and rain, therefore needs to be maintained. One commonly used material for outdoor furniture is Teak. Teak contains natural oil called silica which makes it resistant to decay, and extreme weather conditions. It is also fire, acid and alkalis resistant. Aluminum garden furniture is strong and will last long.
Despite that, factors such as suntan lotions, perspiration due to extreme hotness and carbon monoxide can weaken the powder coating that protects it. To maintain the furniture, it should be cleaned frequently with a solution of mild washing up detergent and warm water, and then let it dry completely.
