Jackets Have to Meet Safety Standards
These are generally in the form of sleeved or sleeveless jackets worn over one’s regular clothes. The main feature of these jackets is that they are made of fluorescent colors like blue, yellow, lime, orange and red so that the wearer can be easily made out in both bright and dark areas. Most Hi Viz Vests have vertical and horizontal reflective stripes in the front and back which reflect light falling on them thus making the wearer more conspicuous, especially at night. The aim of such clothing is to ensure safety of the wearer by reducing the scope of accidents.
Also in emergency situations people involved in disaster management stand out in the crowd by wearing such clothing so that victims can easily locate them for help. While it is essential for people in certain professions like the police, firefighters, paramedics, runway personnel and construction site workers to wear a high visibility vest, others like motorbike and bicycle riders and pedestrians can also use such jackets for their personal safety. Such jackets make them distinctly visible especially at night when cars’ lights fall on them.
Such protective clothes are manufactured as per certain safety standards. The material is generally made with polyester and PVC to make it water proof. Also some jackets especially those used by firefighters are made with fire resistant material. One should pay attention to the system used for fastening the jacket while buying it. Velcro fastening is a better option to zips and buttons. In emergency situations when the jacket gets fixed to a moving vehicle and has to be urgently pulled off, a Velcro fastening system will work faster.
Different Varieties Available Online
Companies and government services which make it mandatory for their employees to use hi vis clothing can get their logo designed on the jacket in fluorescent colors. This is useful for both the wearer and the people who require his services.
Also these jackets are made in specific colors for people of different professions like blue for police personnel, green for paramedics and red for fire fighters. One can buy such clothing in regular stores or via the internet. It is a good idea to research the different varieties available before buying a suitable one. Sometimes companies may order for a particular type in bulk for uniformity among its employees which also reduces the cost of the jackets.
For personal use, one can search for a jacket as per preference of color and design. One can opt for full sleeved or sleeveless waist coat with reflective stripes. Also various extra large sizes are available so that the jacket can be worn comfortably over one’s clothes. Most online stores provide a picture of the different types available.
Due to the smart designs available, along with safety hi viz clothing also make a great fashion statement
People in risky professions and vulnerable motorcyclists and pedestrians should use Hi Vis Vests as an added safety measure to avoid accidents at the worksite or on the road
