Double glazing works by making two or more sheets of glass apart & then hermitically sealing them to form a single glass unit with air between each sheet. Insulated is the technical term for double glazing. Double glazing is also known as the thermal glass as the production of such windows was not solely exclusive to two panes of glass. The term double glazing stuck form the normal idea of two window sheets.

Double glazing combats this as the trapped air within the two panes of window doors and creates an insulation barrier.
Double glazing also prevents the noise that enters the home. The double glazed windows due to insulation prevent the voice frequency from coming inside the house.
